ChatGPT Coming to New Volkswagen Cars in 2025

One thing we love about being Volkswagen dealers is witnessing the evolution of new Volkswagen models year after year. The coming model year is even more exciting than usual. Beginning in 2025, several models at Casey Volkswagen will feature ChatGPT functionality augmenting the popular IDA™ voice assistant from Volkswagen.

What It Does

Current Volkswagen models already allow the IDA™ voice assistant to control systems in the car. The vehicle can also answer questions. But with ChatGPT, the possibilities grow. For example, the AI can tell you about tourist attractions, the latest sports scores, or even solve math problems. All of this works intuitively; since you’re chatting with your car instead of using a touch interface, you don’t have to take your eyes off the road.

How it Works

If you have a VW Connect or a VW Connect Plus account, there’s nothing new to buy or learn; you can simply use IDA™ as usual. Just say “Hello IDA™” or press the button on the steering wheel to activate the assistant. It supports five languages, it’s convenient, and it’s also safe because ChatGPT does not store your queries or other vehicle data.

GPT-Compatible VW Models

Volkswagen is one of the first car makers to introduce ChatGPT to its vehicles. The search tool is available in all new Volkswagen ID models, the new Volkswagen Golf, VW Passat, and VW Tiguan. This new setup pushes the envelope for gathering information while driving since you interact with the car using natural language, just like you would if you were talking to a friend.
